About me!

Rennie Young: I retired from Honda Canada Inc. last December after 26 years, 17 years with the military prior to that. Also, I turned 65 Sept. 10. "I wanted to do one thing in my life that would make a difference and I felt this was IT"! I surpassed my fund raising goal of $5,000. I want to thank all who donated to the cause on my behalf. I only started my fund raising on July 22 and found everyone very eager to contribute as just about everybody has been touched by Cancer. It is a horrific disease and we have to make it history!

70K ride in the heat

No pic today, sorry! Left home about 1130 to do an hour's ride but into it wanted to do more so headed out through Bedford into Lwr. Sackville onto Cobiquid Rd up heartbreak hill then turned onto Windsor Junction and Fall River Rd climb to Waverley Rd. Went by my projected end point of Laurie Park and finally stopped at Enfield Irving out of water and no food since breaky:( Lucky I thought to bring some money or I would have looked pathetic panhandling for quarters at Big Stop to buy bannans and water:) On way back I passed another bike ride and their camper all signed out with only about 8 riders with jerseys "Awaress of Mental Illness Ride". The were from Toronto and left in May, must have been short ride days?? Seemed like a family thing, so I rode with them into Waverley, nice bunch! Really strong head wind coming back and first time I experienced drafting, really nice:) This was a good confidence builder for me as I felt really strong even climbing hill back up to home (Over 3 hours riding). So come October, I should be fine to do the daily trek:)
